About the Night of Hope Walk for Cancer Foundation

The Night of Hope Walk for Cancer Foundation was established nearly a decade ago to benefit Sidney and Cheyenne County. Funds generated through the Night of Hope are used to support and uplift our friends and neighbors battling cancer. We are a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.

Tax-deductible contributions to the Foundation are put to good use through a variety of programs and services. Funding is used, in part, to provide vouchers for fuel, food and lodging if travel is required for treatment. We contribute to an annual scholarship through the Western Nebraska Community College Foundation for students entering the field of medicine. In addition, we make an annual donation to Team Jack or the Eppley Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for continuing cancer research, which will lead to a cure.

As a volunteer organization, we are constantly looking for those who share the same passion for helping those in need in our communities. Past projects have included a lighted mural and new waiting room furniture for the Dorwart Cancer Center in Sidney to provide additional comfort for patients receiving treatment. We’ve sponsored retreats and luncheons for cancer patients to share experiences and learn from professional guest speakers.

In 2010, the Night of Hope Walk for Cancer Foundation partnered with Memorial Health Center to construct a new hospice room. This room provides a warm and inviting environment for friends and family to be with loved ones during their final stage of life. The Night of Hope Foundation is proud to have been involved with this meaningful project and know that it will be a great comfort to those patients and families for years to come.
